Ashamed as should we all be.

This picture is of the War Memorial at Kelso (A beautiful piece of sculpture on its own).
I am ashamed to say that within the people of my nation there is an apathy toward these places of Remembrance, they are plundered for metal and left to fall into disrepair though I am proud of the condition Kelso keeps theirs.
I grow weary of fighting to keep the troubles of the Veteran within the public view (they do indeed not only honour the dead but also those injured during conflict) at times I struggle to write or to even see reason to continue reminding others of the cost.

This week two men died in Afghanistan and the news barely caught its breath to acknowledge the fact, we have lost sight of what is important and we are in danger of losing the faith of our Forces. I am ashamed as should we all be.

Rifleman Lieutenant Andrew Robert Chesterman and Lance Corporal Matthew David Smith died within 48 hours of each other.
